Program Overview

The Project Coordinator Assistant Program at Kapawe’no College is designed to equip students with the essential skills and knowledge required for effective project coordination and management. This comprehensive course covers budgeting, scheduling, team leadership, and client communication, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared to thrive in diverse project environments. Participants will gain hands-on experience and insights into project management tools, enabling them to manage risks, maintain quality standards, and communicate effectively with stakeholders.

Course Modules Outline

Introduction to Project Coordination

  • Understanding the role and responsibilities of a project coordinator.
  • Overview of the project life cycle and its phases.

 

Project Documentation & Communications

  • Maintaining and updating accurate project files.
  • Effective communication strategies within the project team.
  • Introduction to quality checks and standards to ensure project integrity.

 

Basics of Project Scheduling

  • Understanding timelines, milestones, and critical paths.
  • Learning how to coordinate meetings and allocate resources effectively.

 

Introduction to Project Management Tools

  • Familiarity with common project coordination software (e.g., Microsoft Project).
  • Exploring basic reporting functions and features of these tools.

 

Risk Management & Quality Assurance

  • Recognizing potential risks and conflicts in projects.
  • Implementing introductory quality checks and understanding quality standards.

 

Evaluation, Certification, and Employment Opportunities

  • All 17 weeks of “Hard Skills” (hands-on training) will be complemented with a 35-week “Soft Skills” (academic learning) tailored to each participant’s educational goals, needs, and personal desires.
