Program Overview

The Plumber Assistant Training Program at Kapawe’no College offers comprehensive training in plumbing systems, installation, repair, and maintenance. This program is designed to equip students with the essential skills and knowledge needed to excel in the plumbing industry. Covering topics such as pipefitting, fixture installation, drainage systems, and code compliance, participants will learn both fundamental techniques and advanced troubleshooting skills. Hands-on experience in simulated work environments will ensure that graduates are well-prepared for real-world plumbing challenges.

Course Modules Outline

Introduction to Plumbing Systems

  • Overview of plumbing systems, fixtures, and installations.
  • Introduction to pipefitting, drainage systems, and code compliance.
  • Theory: Understanding plumbing principles, materials, and tools.

 

Safety Considerations & Equipment Maintenance

  • Comprehensive understanding of safety protocols in plumbing work.
  • Maintenance of plumbing tools, equipment, and fixtures.
  • Learning basic plumbing skills such as pipe fitting and fixture installation.

 

Hands-on Practice

  • Practical experience with drainage systems, pipe connections, and fixture setups.
  • Setting up mock plumbing sites for the application of plumbing skills.
  • Performing plumbing tasks in simulated work environments.

 

Advanced Techniques

  • Dealing with complex plumbing system malfunctions and maintenance challenges.
  • Learning industry standards for plumbing installations, repairs, and upgrades.
  • Understanding site management for efficient plumbing project execution.

 

Evaluation, Certification, and Employment Pathways

  • Written test covering theoretical knowledge of plumbing systems and codes.
  • Practical test assessing plumbing skills in real-world scenarios.
  • Final debriefs, addressing questions, and distribution of certification.
  • All 17 weeks of “Hard Skills” (hands-on training) will be complemented with a 35-week “Soft Skills” (academic learning) designed specifically for each participant’s educational goals, needs, and personal desires.
